Plantar Peanut -- ADOPTED!

Updated: Feb 10, 2020

Meet Plantar Peanut! Peanut is an adult male dog who was given up when his former owner became ill and unable to care for him. Peanut is a wonderfully handsome shepard crossbreed who has proven himself to be trustworthy and loving addition to his foster family as he would be to his forever family. Peanut has settled in nicely with his foster family despite the drastic change from the home he grew up in. Peanut is wonderfully affectionate with those he trusts, and he warms up to people he doesn’t know fairly quickly.

We have observed him to be gentle and good with children; he loves to snuggle up beside the toddler in his foster family while the toddler is playing or doing a puzzle. He is also extremely loyal to those he trusts. Peanut is a wonderful cuddler, and he would love to snuggle up next to his forever parents. He especially loves cuddling up next to a fire with his foster mother.

Peanut’s foster mother has been working on some basic commands, and he is extremely agile in learning them and has a great need to please. He is fully house trained and is very good about letting his foster mother know when he needs to go out, giving a bark or even singing a little song of sorts. He will go into his crate if needed. Staying true to his shepard roots, he loves to be active outside and loves to chase squirrels and seagulls. He particularly love to find a spot outside in the sun to survey and watch the world go by.

We have recently learned that he will need double ACL surgery, for which PAWs will cover all expenses. For that reason, his foster mother has limited his walks in length and frequency to minimize the pain to his knees. Peanut has a wonderful soul and will need a loving and patient family to care for him in his recovery, and rehabilitation from surgery.

He is a vibrant and devoted family pet perfect for a slower paced lifestyle. In his previous home he lived with other dogs and is slowly adjusting to the dog in his foster home.

He could benefit from dog socialization or even classes. Peanut is a magnificent dog who deserves to be treasured and cared for with the same devotion he shows to those he cares for.

Please think of him when choosing a furry friend to add to your family.
