Hugo!

Size: Large

Age: Adult

Gender: Male

Breeds: American Staffordshire Terrier

No Cats

Hugo lives close by in New England, right outside of Boston.

If you are looking for a wonderful, friendly boy, then Hugo is your man. His foster mother had a Wisdom Panel done, and he came back as 100% Staffordshire Terrier - he is devoted, loyal, and friendly. Hugo is a great dog inside and out. He is always trotting around the house as happy as he can be. He loves to hang out around the house while you are doing work or just relaxing.

Two of his favorite things to do are eating food and licking people - he loves to give big kisses. Hugo loves raw cauliflower and Brussel sprouts, but he doesn't like celery. He is always hungry. He loves to learn new tricks and games. He learned how to shake hands and will stay and wait to eat until you say "OK."

He is much more disciplined than his doggy brother in his foster home. If you mention going on a walk, he gets very excited because it is one of his favorite things to do. He still gets very excited, so he does pull a bit and is walked with a harness. To help adopters and this wonderful pup start off on the right paw, PAWS will cover the cost of a training class at an approved certified professional dog trainer for his adopter to participate in after the adoption. Hugo loves to be around people and is fine when he is alone but is happiest around others.

Hugo is a big cuddler and doesn't quite realize his size - he would be the perfect lap dog if he was that size! He loves to squeeze into any spot between people on the couch and come right in for some cuddles with his family. If he's not wagging his tail, he's sleeping.Hugo also loves to sunbathe in the backyard and play around with the hose on a hot summer day. He lives with another dog and they are best friends; they love hanging out with one another. Although he is with another dog now, he would be great as the only dog in the house. He loves all of the attention on him; who can blame him?

He is not social with dogs that he does not know; he needs time to get to know the dog. He tends to get defensive when approached by an unknown dog. He does not see a difference between cats and squirrels; they are all the same to him, so a house without cats is needed.

Hugo is one of the happiest dogs you will see. His big golden eyes will cause you to fall instantly in love with this amazing and loving boy; he will love you with all of his heart.
