These adorable pups were rescued from the streets of Aruba after being found living under a car. Sunshine stood by and protected her brother Thunder, who is unable to use his hind legs. Their loving bond is unmatched. They have come a long way and now are looking for a loving home with people who want to feel their love.
Sunshine, although slightly shy at first, loves to shine her light on others whether it is with her brother who she protects and adores, or with her foster parents she gives all of her affection. She loves to give kisses and snuggle up to you, even when she is sleeping. She will always be there with a paw to hold or with a kiss. Her protective and caring nature for thunder is also true for her humans. Thunder has a shy side as well, but loves his daily snuggles. They both love to play and meet new people.
Thunder was born with a mobility defect leaving him unable to use his hind legs. He is NOT paralyzed and his bladder and bowel function perfectly. But nothing can hold Thunder back from enjoying life. He loves to play with his sister and chase butterflies through the park. He doesn’t notice his differences and gets around just fine. Thunder can climb up and down small stairs, but ideally living on a ground floor with easy in and out access or usage of a ramp would be beneficial to him.
Thunder has been working with a neurologist, who although can’t make a formal diagnosis, is hopeful about his ability to possibly walk in the future. Through physical therapy, Thunder has been trying to strengthen his back legs, but his condition remains the same.
He has just been fitted for his wheelchair and loves to use it in public and at the park, where he runs around with his sister and plays with other dogs.
The two have gotten used to living in a home and are house-trained. They even know that their foster mom’s whistle means to come back inside or that dinner is ready!
Being a shepherd beagle mix, these dogs are smart, agile, loving, and love to play.
The bond between Thunder and Sunshine is unbreakable and they must be kept together. They have so much love between them that they are looking to share in their new family.
