Meet Eve! A lovable Staffordshire Bull Terrier senior, Eve is one of the strongest puppies PAWS has ever known.
She’s quirky, loving, and all around has quite the personality for a dog her size. Under all of this, however, is a long, hard history. Eve was brought to PAWS after being rescued from a puppy mill. She went through years of having puppies, abuse, you name it. After arriving at PAWS, she was on her way to a full recovery when a routine spay surgery went awry. During surgery, a rare tumor was found in Eve’s uterus.
Clinically known as an ovarian dysgerminoma, this tumor was almost the size of a grapefruit, and because it is a rarity, little was known about it or how to treat it. There were two options- chemotherapy and radiation, or to wait it out and see how Eve progressed. As she was already older in age, the decision was unanimous to let her live the rest of her life in peace, without having to suffer through radiation that might not even be completely necessary in the end.
In a loving home, Eve should be able to get all the care she needs to be healthy. Eve can be somewhat of a lone wolf at times, as it was shown that with other dogs she can be a bit of a bully. We wholeheartedly believe, that with time to get to know each other, Eve will be able to get along with whatever dog she is introduced to. In her case, though, it is preferable that she is the “only child” in the household, as it is very important that she can have one on one time with her new owner, and live a quiet and peaceful life, and have a chance to really recover from the “wear and tear” that her life has given to her.
Eve is housetrained, but with a new home always comes the risk of an accident. Adjusting to a new home is never easy!
Here at PAWS, it is our mission to find the best fit possible for each dog. As we believe Eve is special, finding the perfect home is critical. As mentioned before, she is an older dog, which means she will most likely need a quieter home to make her life as stress free as possible. With all over her past circumstances, it is of utmost importance and in her best interest that the rest of her life is lived with a sense of love and care, as that is what this girl truly deserves.
